Fetlar

Fetlar is the ideal island to visit if you love walking, observing wildlife, fishing or kayaking.

The fourth largest of the Shetland Islands, with an area of 15.75 square miles stretching roughly seven miles west to east and four miles north to south, it is rich in wildlife, archaeology and geology and has a strong tradition of folklore and storytelling. For anyone interested in living in Fetlar there is a comprehensive welcome pack available at Promote Shetland.

Visiting the island – even for a day trip – is easy in summer with eight ferries on and off the island from Tuesday to Friday. For those travelling without a car, the ferry coordinates with the bus service and you can also book the island’s dial-a-ride service.
